Overview:
WomanCare Centers, a Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care division, and affiliate of Unified Women’s Healthcare, is seeking a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife to join their growing practice on the beautiful coast of Virginia. WCC is an established practice that has served the Tidewater area for over 33 years and draws patients from Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
WCC is the only practice in the area that promotes a true collaborative model between midwives and physicians. Our group of 7 physicians and 4 CNM’s work closely together to offer high and low risk obstetric care and full-service gynecologic care to patients in our area.
Patients are being seen in a new 12,000 sq foot office space on the Sentara Leigh Hospital campus near Virginia Beach Town Center. Our office is in a full-service women’s health building housing 3 OB/GYN practices, 2 procedure rooms for outpatient surgical procedures and a women’s imaging center.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient and inpatient obstetrical care throughout the entire pregnancy to include collaborative management and delivery of laboring patients, and OB emergency care.
- Facilitate CenteringPregnancy group prenatal care.
- Provide gynecologic care, including well-woman exam and cancer screening, perform comprehensive health assessments, and perform in-office procedures such as placement/removal of IUD and Nexplanon.
- Facilitate inpatient triage, admissions, and discharges in accordance with established guidelines and standards developed within the collaborative practice.
- Perform inpatient rounds and record appropriate notes, complete forms pertinent to patients’ medical records, and send notes as indicated for billing.
- Provide pregnancy care by managing low-risk pregnancies and identifying and participating in collaborative care of high-risk pregnancies.
- Provide support during labor and birth, postpartum, intrapartum, and antepartum care in a busy hospital setting. Must be familiar with low-intervention labor care and support hydrotherapy in labor.
- Perform procedures such as repair of 1st and 2nd-degree lacerations. May assist with cesarean deliveries.
- Perform complete, detailed, and accurate health histories and patient record reviews.
- Participate and facilitate patient and community outreach and education on an array of services offered by this practice.
- Meets all the requirements of the practice agreement with the supervising physician(s) under the regulations and requirements of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
