GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides support to LVN's and medical staff by performing a variety of medical functions including obtaining vitals, recording consumer medical information, administering medical screenings, etc. Handles front desk administrative functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Informs physician of any complaints or concerns observed or verbalized by patients.
- Obtains patients’ medical history and vitals.
- Sets up patient for examination and assists physician during examinations and procedures.
- Ensures patient files are complete and accurate.
- Educates patients to support behavioral changes to maintain healthy lifestyle.
- Manages specialty referrals to primary clinic for the center for health care services.
- Enters data from monitoring and tracking systems.
- Maintains cleanliness of laboratory and medical equipment.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED
- Completed medical assistant training program at an accredited school
Licenses or Certifications
- Medical Assistant Certification to practice in the State of Texas (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA)
Other Requirements
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business
- Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in psychiatric or behavioral health.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
SUPERVISION
- Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.

- Patient assistant forms for medication funding
- HIPPA and OSHA requirements and guidelines
- Various medications
- Applicable software applications

- Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
- Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios

- Use and maintain clinical equipment
- Conduct follow up with patients
- Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Maintain accurate and complete records
- Meet schedules and deadlines of the work
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files
- Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
- Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in various care.
- The employee must be able to occasionally transfer a consumer.
Compensation Package
Salary Range: $31,200 - $37,440 Per Year
