A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a crucial part of the healthcare team, providing both administrative and clinical support to medical providers. This role requires technical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to excellent patient care.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Scheduling and managing patient appointments
Handling patient check-in and check-out processes
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records
Processing insurance claims and handling billing inquiries
Managing medical supplies and inventory
Taking and recording vital signs: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate
Assisting with medical examinations and procedures
Preparing patients for examinations and treatments
Administering medications: as directed by a physician
Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
Performing basic laboratory tests: such as urinalysis and rapid strep tests
Assisting with minor procedures: including wound care and injections
These responsibilities ensure comprehensive care and efficient operation within the healthcare setting, providing essential support to both patients and healthcare providers.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
Certification:
- Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is essential.
Skills:
- Primary care experience (REQUIRED).
- BLS Certification (REQUIRED).
- Experience with Allscripts EMR (preferred; training provided if necessary).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and coding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
