The Level Four Carpenter works in Facilities Services at the University of Florida (UF). The incumbent reads and interprets blueprints and wall layouts. He/she is responsible for leading the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of metal and wood doors and doorframes, mortise locks, hinges, exit devices, door closers, handicapped door operators, other door hardware, floor and wall systems, ceiling joist and roof framing, stair systems, ceiling tiles, ceiling grids, fixed classroom seating, windows, window frames, window screens, insulation, waterproofing, metal framing, various types of flooring, vinyl and ceramic tiles, wall bases, molding, sheetrock, plaster, insulation, exterior finishes, floor joists and truss systems, dig footers, form foundations, rigging straps, hoist-ways, cables, and equipment. [Building Maintenance only: Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains fume hoods.] The incumbent leads completion of site/slab layout; builds forms for slabs, sidewalks, and curbs; uses dig footers to form foundations; installs reinforcing materials; pours, forms, and finishes concrete; lays block, brick, stucco, ceramic tiles, and marble thresholds; uses a variety of masonry materials; and builds cabinets and counter tops. He/she leads and supports other trades and contractors, cleans and maintains the shop and all related equipment, operates a UF vehicle.

Expected Salary:	$23.00 - $24.50 Hourly based on experience and certification.
Minimum Requirements:	High school diploma and four years of appropriate experience in carpentry related work; appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience Currently NCCER Certified Plus in trade or pass NCCER knowledge verification. Complete CORE and a trade specific Critical Task Assessment within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications:	EDUCATION & TRAINING: None above minimum qualifications EXPERIENCE: None above minimum qualifications KNOWLEDGE: Expert knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance and repair work SKILLS - Skill in using hand tools, power tools, and equipment - Skill in reading blueprints and drawings - Skill in calculating conversions for concrete block and brick work - Skill in ordering necessary equipment - Skill in using a transit to measure elevation for concrete and site layout ABILITIES - Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments - Ability to communicate effectively - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others - Ability to provide specifications for door orders, including size and recommended hardware - Ability to coordinate materials and scheduling of contractors for door installations and small renovations/small projects PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS - Ability to drive or walk to customer/trouble locations - Ability to move or lift weights (such as ladders, tools, and equipment) weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance - Ability to climb - Ability to reach above shoulders frequently - Ability to kneel - Ability to bend repeatedly - Ability to pull and push repetitively OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: State of Florida Class E operator license (required)
