Key Responsibilities
Perform echocardiograms and Doppler studies according to established protocols.
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and answering questions.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during ultrasound procedures.
Review the medical history of patients to determine any pre-existing cardiac conditions.
Utilize sonographic equipment efficiently to capture high-quality images of the heart.
Analyze and interpret ultrasound images; identify abnormalities for physician review.
Document all relevant patient information and test results accurately.
Coordinate with cardiologists to discuss findings and recommend further testing if necessary.
Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated with advancements in cardiac sonography.
Adhere to infection control and safety protocols in clinical settings.
Assist with clinical research projects where applicable.
Educate patients on post-procedure care and any necessary follow-up appointments.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop patient care plans.
Manage administrative tasks related to patient scheduling and record keeping.
Required Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Proven experience in a clinical cardiac setting.
In-depth knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and software.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and families.
Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology and relevant protocols.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Commitment to professional development and continuing education.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Experience in educating patients about procedures and care plans.
Strong analytical abilities for image analysis and interpretation.
