Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 annual salary
Position Overview
The Project Engineer is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing projects from conception to completion, including coordination of all the engineering design and implementation activities to ensure that technical specifications and project requirements are met, completed on time and within scope and budget. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and selection and application of standards, procedures and technical criteria, as well as excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
General Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project plans including scope, objectives, deliverables, resource allocation, timelines, budgets.
- Coordinate internal activities within the project team and third parties/vendors to ensure all aspects of the project are aligned and progressing according to execution plans.
- Prepare bill of materials and equipment procurement requisitions.
- Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including plans, designs, reports, and updates.
- Track project schedule and progress, control and manage budgets, and report of project status on a regular basis.
- Prepare engineering reports, drawings, technical procedures, manuals and information for the project team and clients.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Ensure all project activities meet or exceed industry codes, standards, regulations, and company quality guidelines.
- Ensure that quality policies, practices and procedures are adhered, audits carried out and non- conformance reports issued when necessary.
- Interact with clients to interpret their needs and requirements and communicate with the project team.
- Attend regular project, design review and additional technical meetings with clients.
- Advises management of any challenges, including changes in scope, schedule or cost that may affect profit, contractual terms and/or client complaints.
- Review and ensure all engineering deliverables are prepared and issued in a timely manner. Initiate appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
- Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and/or products related to the project.
- Ensure that projects are delivered on-time, according to scope, within budget and in compliance with the required quality and safety standards.
- Participate in project and lessons learned meetings with engineering staff.
- Support and involvement in business process improvement and quality management initiatives and development.
- Support sales team with technical scope and budgeting.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Systems Application, Mechanical or Electrical).
- Minimum 4 years of experience in project engineering within petrochemical, oil and gas or power generation industries.
- Proven experience managing projects, coordinating project team’s activities and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strategic planning, risk management and change management.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, manuals and software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from clients and/or other staff members.
- Strong time management, analytical, problem-solving and organization skills.
- Maintains a working knowledge in systems application engineering and industry standards, quality practices and safety practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Microsoft Project, Adobe Acrobat and Windows. AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills
Company’s corporate headquarters primarily and customer’s sites when required.
Moderate noise and interruptions.
Work Hours
Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm regular schedule.Occasionally extended or irregular working hours, including weekends and holidays may be required.
