Position Purpose:
The Technology Assistant plays a key role in supporting the efficient operation of campus computing systems, telecommunication networks, and technology infrastructure. This position provides hands-on IT support, ensuring that company-issued devices, software, and hardware function properly. Additionally, the Technology Assistant supports end users with troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical assistance. As a Senior Technology Assistant, this role also includes serving as the primary test proctor, ensuring a secure and smooth testing environment for all users.
Key Duties:
- Provide technical support for campus computing devices, including troubleshooting software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
- Assist faculty, staff, and students with the setup, maintenance, and operation of company-issued technology devices and equipment.
- Serve as the primary test proctor, ensuring all test materials are secure, administering tests in accordance with established protocols, and assisting test takers with any technology-related concerns.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain campus digital infrastructure, including systems network, cloud/web-based systems, electronic data communication, and operational databases, per Corporate IT Policies and Procedures.
- Troubleshoot, repair, assemble, maintain, install, and perform testing activities on computer equipment, network systems, firewall, and data communication systems, using Technology Assistant proper standard interface protocols.
- Configure and set up servers to work with various programs.
- Ensure server backups and network user backups are performed regularly.
- Maintain, safeguard, track and store software/hardware and computer equipment.
- Manage and monitor Users’ utilization of IT systems to ensure adherence to digital safety protocols.
- Assign computer equipment to Users and train on the proper use of electronic equipment and systems access.
- Maintain Web Portal login information for students and employees.
- Serve as the campus point of contact/Help Desk for IT questions and provide great and timely customer service.
- Prepare and submit vendor warranty claims, parts, and documentation associated with warranty repairs.
- Assist other campuses with IT issues as requested by Home Office IT Department.
- Perform and complete other tasks assigned by Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- Strong troubleshooting experience with MS Office applications, Network Printers, CampusNexus, and other various desktop and cloud-based User applications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and work well under pressure.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
- Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
- Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours outside of regular work shifts, including evenings and/or weekends as necessary or as requested by Supervisor.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent preferred
- CompTIA Network+ certification or equivalent, highly desirable
