Camp Senior Supervisor – Summer 2025

Town of Westwood seeks an energetic and responsible individual for the seasonal position of Senior Supervisor for the Westwood Recreation Department Summer Camp. This position is responsible for supervision of Recreation Camp staff as well as campers ages 5-14. Senior Supervisor will assist the Camp Director with administration and operation of a comprehensive full-day summer camp program. They are responsible for the general safety and development of the participants at camp, as well as troubleshooting any problems that may arise during the day.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee and implement daily operations of the Summer Camp to include daily programming, group management, special event planning and staff management.
- Implement department safety and emergency policies to maintain health, safety and welfare of all campers and staff.
- In collaboration with the Recreation Program Manager and Camp Director, facilitate staff trainings and conduct daily staff meetings and trainings throughout the summer.
- Establish positive rapport and on-going communication with staff, campers and parents/guardians.
- Oversee the use of program equipment and general maintenance of grounds.
- Supervise the opening or closing shift of the camp.
Qualifications and Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience with group supervision of children required. Must attend all required staff training sessions. First Aid, CPR/AED certification is required. Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience preferred. Ability to work with children of varying ages, backgrounds and abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills necessary.
Schedule Requirements: Mandatory staff trainings June 10-12, 2025, from 4:00-8:00PM. Work commitment is Monday-Friday, June 23 - August 8, 2025 (No July 4th).
Salary and Benefits: This is a seasonal, non-benefit position with a starting hourly rate of $20.00-$22.00 commensurate with experience. Eligible for a $500 perfect attendance bonus. Employee discount of 100% on in-house programs, e.g., camp for full-time staff and their immediate family.
