Job Description Summary:
This position reports to the Director of Counseling. The services provided through the Counseling Center aid students in coping with obstacles such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and other issues which might otherwise interfere with educational and personal development. Counselors may also suggest referrals to other community and college resources when appropriate and with the agreement of the student. All services are confidential.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or related field.
Two (2) years counseling related experience.
Counselor I – current Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate under supervision, eligible for full licensure from the Texas State Board of Examiners.
Counselor II – current license from the Texas State Board of Examiners such as Licensed Professional Counselor.
Two (2) years counseling related experience.
Counselor I – current Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate under supervision, eligible for full licensure from the Texas State Board of Examiners.
Counselor II – current license from the Texas State Board of Examiners such as Licensed Professional Counselor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in outreach, consultation, and mental health crisis management. Knowledge of psychological crisis intervention and management. Experience with managing mental health awareness and prevention education on social media platforms. Experience working at a Counseling Center in Higher Education. Demonstrated competence in a broad range of college campus-related concerns to include working with First Time In College (FTIC), First-generation and other non-traditional students, Hispanic/Latino students, LGBTQ students, Veteran students, personal identity development and adjustment, and substance use/abuse. Multicultural awareness and competency. Experience working with electronic mental health records management systems, such as Titanium.
