About the Job
WALCO is currently looking for dedicated and experienced CNC Vertical Mill Machinist to setup and operate CNC machining centers. Perform highly diversified and complex contour milling, drilling, boring, and tapping of products either manually or under computer control. Materials include low carbon & alloy steel, cast iron castings, 300 & 400 series stainless steel bar stock & castings, aluminum, etc. Load parts, cycles machine, and detect worn or damaged cutting tools. Run production lots, inspect work, communicate with co-workers regarding production runs. Maintains safe, organized and clean work environment.
Position requirements:
- 5+ years set-up and operation of CNC vertical equipment
- Must be capable/have experience working with various materials including low carbon & alloy steels, cast iron castings, 300 & 400 series stainless steel bar stock & castings, aluminum, etc.
- Able to use correct holding devices - vises & fixtures
- Capable of maintaining milling tolerances - General +/- .001" to +/- .005" and some +- .0005"
- Surface finishes - 125, 63, 32, 16 RA
- Okuma control a plus
- Have the ability to follow written work instructions
- Must be able to do multiple setups daily.
- Must be fluent in G and M codes
- Blueprint reading
- SolidWorks and AutoCAD a plus
- Siemens control a plus
- Develop and demonstrate basic knowledge of 5S and Lean principles to drive continuous improvement throughout the self-education and company sponsored training
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be eligible for employment in the U.S.
- Must be able to physically lift/push/pull objects up to 50 lbs.

Qualified applicants must submit to a background check, physical exam and drug test.
Training for this position will happen during 1st shift (day shift) Monday - Friday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
After training is completed, the position will work 2nd shift (afternoon shift) Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
