CNC SWISS Machinist Description:
- A strong machining background on CNC Swiss machining centers.
- Experience working with quality inspection equipment for first piece inspection.
- Background in the aerospace or medical field machining using exotic materials a plus; Studies blueprint and set up sheets to determine machining to be done, dimensions of parts, and permissible tolerances, and planned sequence of operations on the machine
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Mounts cutting tools in tool holders and mounts them on machine, using wrenches, verifying their position with gauges and other measuring instruments.
- Starts machine, observes operation, and verifies conformance of first-run and sample work pieces to specifications, using such instruments as micrometers, calipers, limit gauges, and scales. Capable of running multiple machines.
- Determines tool life requirements and replaces worn tools.
- Operate CNC Swiss machine to perform machining operations, such as turning, boring, facing, and threading on castings, forgings, and bar stock: etc.
- Requires little to no supervision/assistance to perform job tasks.
- Ability to read complicated blueprints and/or sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications and operating as required
- Ability to develop procedures and design fixtures or tooling
- Ability to troubleshoot production and adjust machines accordingly
- Ability and desire to be a team player and mentor to others
- Perform machining operations, such as turning, boring, facing, and threading on castings, forgings and bar stock: etc.; and other assignments as necessary. - May be required to work on other equipment/machines within the Company
Qualifications/Skills:
- 2 years of experience of operating on CNC Swiss Lathes
- Capable of running Swiss machine centers and other CNC machines
- Will be fully independent machinists
- Must have their own tools of the trade
- Interpret part configurations and dimensions from prints/ drawings
- Ability to perform 1st piece inspections on machined parts
- Must be familiar with common inspection tools
- Could be responsible for running up to 3 machines at one time
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly
- Knowledge of Citizen and KSI SWISS CNC machines a plus
