CNC Progammer/Operator II - K&N Engineering

About the Job
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must be able to program complex parts and surfaces using MasterCam software and is responsible for proving out his programs.
- Must be able to design and build appropriate fixturing and mounting devises to effectively machine the required parts.
- As a programmer II you will be expected to prove out programs created by other programmers and verify the correct tooling to perform the operations programmed.
- The operator will be responsible to edit G-Code programming and perform complete manual G-Code programming at the machine to machine one-offs and on-demand parts.
- The level II programmer is required to be or become proficient with using K&N’s network for retrieving and saving programs.
- The operator programmer is expected to edit and modify programs at the machine and then save the edited program to the proper MasterCam program file folders on the network.
- The operator will be responsible for the set up and operation of various CNC machine tools, which may include Lathes and Mills.
- The operator will be responsible for keeping the CNC machine tools running and checking the parts being run. This includes the operation of several machine tools at one time.
- The operator must be able to adjust offsets and locations, as well as change inserts and cutting tools, as necessary and make cutter comp adjustments to maintain required part dimensions within tolerances provided.
- The operator will be responsible for full inspections of his parts and verifying tolerances are being held.
- The operator is required to tear down setups, and return tooling to its proper location and get machine ready for next setup.
- The operator will be responsible for setting up the required tooling fixtures, vises and other holding apparatuses, along with loading the proper cutting tools for the job into the machine.
- The operator must have full knowledge and understanding of speeds, feeds, and surface call outs of the various machined parts and make changes as necessary to produce acceptable parts
- The operator will be responsible for cleanup in and around the machines, as well as maintaining proper fluid levels.
- Communicate proposed changes and ideas with Machine Shop Supervisor and Engineering Manager to help increase machining efficiency, output, and part quality.
- The level II programmer operator must adhere to and follow all K&N’s safety procedures and continuously work and operate all machinery in a safe manner.
Experience, Skills & Education:
- 5 years machine shop experience
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints. Must be able to utilize common machine shop measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to inspect and qualify machined parts accordingly.
- Knowledge of machine shop practices a must.
- Must communicate any machining errors, tooling issues and communicate corrective actions clearly and timely.
- Previous programming experience using MasterCam software.
