Salary Range: $21.8400 - $33.5900 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
The Clerk Lead performs a variety of clerical duties in support of patient care activities of the department. Supplies coverage for other clerical areas as needed. Able to troubleshoot and problem solve with occasional supervision. Coordinates daily activities of clerical personnel. Answers telephones, scans and uploads information, digitizes or prints as needed. No more than two (2) documented mailout errors in a one-year time frame. Possesses a working knowledge of all clerical duties within the assigned area and provides coverage whenever necessary. Notifies clerical supervisor of problems that occur. Trains new staff and ensures proper documentation. Acts as a resource to the technologists, radiologists, patients, and referring physicians in the technical supervisor’s absence. Actively participates in the hiring of clerical/front office employees. Able to work independently and handles work flow problems within the department. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct. Maintains confidentiality. Maintains up to date unit specific data, and logs. Performs other duties as assigned.
IR Department only:
Responsibilities of the IR Lead Clerk include but are not limited to operational support for the interventional radiology nursing team and physicians that perform procedures within CT, Angio, MRI, Main X-Ray, Ultrasound and the radiology nurse holding room(s). Organizing the flow of interventional patients through the radiology nurse holding area(s) and procedural areas within the department, transcribing orders into patients EMR, ordering and stocking supplies in the holding and procedural area(s), transport of specimens to pathology and/or laboratory as required, following proper protocol for documentation and hand off and transport of patients if centralized transport team is unavailable. This position requires constant interaction with patient floors, physicians and various other departments within the organization and requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience
High School Graduate or equivalent
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus healthcare database systems
Knowledge of proper body mechanics and safety measures required
Five (5) years continuous imaging clerical experience or equivalent required.
IR Only: Experience support clinical operations in an acute care environment is preferred.
Demonstrates competency and proficiency in all radiology/imaging clerical functions required
