The Opportunity
J Leaders is seeking a visionary and passionate CEO (executive director) to lead our organization into the next chapter. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced leader to build upon our success and propel our impact. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the organization. While candidates from the San Francisco Bay Area are preferred, remote candidates will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Vision: Develop and implement a strategic plan for the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization. Oversee and enhance J Leaders’ leadership development programs, ensuring they are impactful and aligned with the organization’s mission. Programs today include the J Leaders Academy, JMentors, J Leaders Forum, Jewish Opportunities Hub, and JBoardMatch.
- Program Management: Oversee the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of leadership development programs for Jewish young adults. Ensure programs are engaging, relevant, and achieve set goals.
- Fundraising & Development: Lead fundraising efforts to secure financial resources to support the organization’s mission. Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors. Adapt program delivery to include virtual, live, and hybrid formats to ensure broad accessibility and engagement.
- Mentorship & Curriculum Development: Mentor emerging leaders within J Leaders, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Supervise curriculum development, integrating innovative approaches and feedback to continuously refine and improve the educational experience.
- Board Relations: Build strong relationships with the Board of Directors, keeping them informed on key issues and seeking their strategic guidance.
- Community Engagement: Develop and maintain strong partnerships with synagogues, Jewish organizations, and other stakeholders committed to Jewish young adult engagement.
- Management & Operations: Manage staff, volunteers, and overall day-to-day operations of the organization. Ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
Qualifications:
- Leadership Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a Jewish non-profit organization, with a proven track record in leadership development program design.
- Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field (business administration, non-profit management, education) preferred.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies for organizational growth and sustainability.
- Fundraising Expertise: Proven track record of raising funds for Jewish non-profits, with strong financial management and budgeting skills to ensure effective resource allocation.
- Program Development: Demonstrated success in the development, management, and continuous improvement of impactful leadership programs.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Passion for Jewish Life: Deep understanding of Jewish communal life and a passion for engaging Jewish young adults.

Compensation:
$110,000 to $130,000, depending on experience and location.
