Summary/Objective
The physical therapist implements patient rehabilitation
programs to help improve patient mobility, function, and strength.
Essential Functions

Hold license as a
Physical Therapist in the state in which you intend to work
Maintain and update PT
skills and certifications as necessary
Evaluate and treat
patients for physical therapy and rehabilitation programs
Utilize Electronic
Medical Record to complete evaluations, reports and discharge summaries for
patient files
Guide & monitor
patient care in all aspects of treatment and follow-up
Supervise PT Assistants
and Aides regarding all aspects of patient care
Communicate with
physicians and other persons to insure quality patient care
Correspond with
co-workers & other offices via phone, fax & email
Be responsible for
accurate patient chart documentation & follow-up re: prescriptions, test
results, authorizations etc.
Make sure patients are
comfortable and answer questions when necessary.
Work closely with the
front office staff regarding scheduling and patient follow up.
Have computer skills
necessary to complete job requirements i.e. typing, Word, Internet, EMR, etc.
Be able to make
independent decisions regarding patient care
Be involved in the
business marketing & referral process when necessary
Be responsible for
following HIPAA policy & procedure
Be familiar with PT
billing policy & procedure re: Medicare work-comp, private, auto, liens,
cash pay etc.
Be proficient in DX and
ICD-10 coding for the billing of services
Be able to be physical
mobile, including a combination of stool sitting, walking, and prolonged standing
for 8-10 hour work days, based on patient care schedule.
Be able to lift 50
pounds and assist moving patients with mobility restraints, assist patients
with transferring, and providing stand by assistance and recovery with patient
walking safety.
Supervisory Responsibility
This
position supervises PT Assistants and Aides regarding all aspects of patient
care.
Work Environment
This
position works in the patient physical therapy clinic an
outpatient/rehabilitation setting.

" Expected to protect the
privacy of all patient information in accordance with the Company s privacy
policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and
in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a health care
provider. Failure to comply with the Company s policies and procedures on
patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including
termination of employment.
" May access protected
health information and other patient information only to the extent that is
necessary to complete job duties. May only share such information with those
who have a need to know specific patient information in order to complete job
responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other Company operations.
" Encouraged and expected
to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding the
Company s policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices
in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.
" Expected to actively
participate in Company privacy training.
" Required to communicate
privacy policy information to coworkers, students, patients and others in
accordance with Company policy.
" Comply with OSHA,
federal and state regulations.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of
those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential
functions of this job. The position walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves
continually during working hours. The position is subject to lifting objects
weighing over 50 pounds, pushing wheel chairs, and transporting and supporting
residents. The employee must be constantly alert for resident safety.

Required Education and Experience
Degree
in Physical Therapy.
