About the Job
The Olympic Club is one of the oldest athletic clubs in the country. The Olympic Club has two campuses, the City Clubhouse in downtown San Francisco and the Lakeside campus on the border of Daly City and San Francisco. We employ approximately 520 staff in total which includes staff in Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Front Office, Golf Maintenance, Golf Operations, Engineering, Athletics, Tennis, Administration, etc.
Position Overview:Local 2 Union part-time position. Scheduling is based on position seniority with shifts being assigned based on operations needs for lunch, donner and banquet events.
Essential functions and responsibilities:Job duties are including but not limited to:
- Set up and remove full table settings and linen.
- In Champions Bar
- place rollups & plates at every setting, pizza stands at tables when necessary/directed by MOD
- In Lakeview
- set all tables with the full setup required for specific service as directed by MOD
- Pre-Bussing Tables: remove empty glasses and plates as members finish politely (even while guests are still seated).
- Silverware/Linen: Polish all silverware needed for service before set up, restock silver storage locations, fold napkins and prep rollups for service
- Setting & Resetting Tables. Wipe down tables, chairs, highchairs, and booster seats throughout service while resetting tables for the next guest. Set and remove chairs and booster seats as needed/directed by MOD.
- In Champions Bar
- Provide beverage service.
- Waters: provide water when guests sit, and refill them periodically throughout service/as directed by MOD (method specific to work location)
- Other Beverages: Assist servers to serve ANY non-alcoholic drink and refill
- throughout service (soda, iced tea, etc.) as needed. Also assist servers to serve, but NOT pour alcoholic drinks as needed/directed by MOD.
- Iced Tea and Coffee: Prep Iced Tea and Coffee for service. Clean the iced tea and coffee station after service.
- Polish all glassware needed for service.
- Banquet room preparation, buffet set up and breakdown.
- Buffets: Set all tables in accordance with specific BEO instructions/MOD direction. Place the appropriate plates on the buffet as specified. Fill and place buffet tags on buffet tables.
- Plated: Set all tables in accordance with specific BEO instructions.
- Silver/Glasses: Polish all silverware and glassware before set up.
- Linens: Set specified linens on all tables and fold/set all napkins as specified by BEO/MOD.
- Beverage: Prep iced tea and coffee for the banquet. Clean the iced tea and coffee station after service.
- Clearing: Clear and sort all dishes as they are brought to the kitchen. Clear on the banquet floor as needed/directed by MOD.
- Maintain clean work area and other duties assigned as needed.
- Busser Station: Maintain clean and tidy busser stations. Ensure jackstands or other surfaces are not being used for storage at any time.
- Linen Storage:Keep all linen storage areas organized and always stocked (i.e. elevator landing second floor, living room credenzas).
- Dinner shifts require an emphasis on assisting servers with the execution of fine dining service.
*Regular attendance required based on business expectations and needs.
*Complies with all federal, state and local employment laws, safety regulations and guidelines, Olympic Club bylaws and house rules, Club policies and procedures and Union contracts.
Non-Essential functions and responsibilities:This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Running Food: Assist in running food in all food service locations/events as needed/directed by MOD.
- Bread Service: Assist servers in slicing and providing bread service with standard accompaniments on tables as guests sit.
- Attend pre-shift or other work-related meetings as scheduled.
- Other reasonable, work-related duties as assigned by a manager.
- Must have 2-3 years previous bussing experience in a busy fine dining restaurant, hotel, club, or similar outlet.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Flexible schedule.
- Basic English communication skills required.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Work independently and have attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
