ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Busser/Bar Back
This requirements of this job as busser/bar back are to prepare and deliver exceptional experience for every guest. Busser/Bar Backs will be held to high standards that uphold sanitation, cleanliness, and safety procedures.
The duties and responsibilities of a Busser/Bar Back include, but are not limited to:
- Handles volume and stress with composure and finesse.
- Adhering to uniform standards. Dress and act professionally each day.
- Knowledge of systems, methods and processes that contribute to great execution.
- Follow training guidelines and testing.
- Must always use a cut glove.
- Cleanliness of dining room, bar, keg room, and server stations.
- Set up sanitizer buckets as needed.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of glassware, silverware, and dishware.
- Assist servers with food delivery.
- Restock server stations as needed and at shift change setting the next shift up for success.
- Maintain clean and organized server stations and equipment. Following cleaning schedules. Cleaning charts having an area / equipment they are responsible for keeping clean, labeled, and organized.
- Product labeled and dated to ensure fresh not expired product.
- Ensure standards, safety and sanitation requirements are always followed.
- Refill salt, pepper, and other condiments at tables.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Held accountable to work scheduled shifts.
- Polish and roll silverware throughout the shift.
- Restock the bar as needed assisting the bartender. Polish wine glasses.
- Cut fruit, refill ice, brew tea and coffee.
- Bus tables, wipe down booths for crumbs, polish booths, and reset to company standard.
- Line up Chairs using a binder.
- Clean and maintain the restrooms.
- Clean and maintain the windows.
- Sweep the restaurant as needed throughout the shift.
- Any other duty/responsibility that management may deem necessary.
UNIFORM STANDARDS:
- Clean jeans. No holes, tears, or bleached jeans.
- Clean plain black t-shirt. Shirt tucked into pants and must wear a belt.
- Hair must be kept clean. Clean shaven. Beards & mustaches are allowed but must be maintained.
- Fingernails must be kept trimmed.
- Jewelry is not allowed to be worn in ears, face, around the neck or wrists.
- Headphones or ear buds are not to be worn.
- Clean and pressed apron.
- Non-slip shoes must be worn.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
No experience required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate in English. Must be able to understand direction given by management.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must attend orientation and agree to policies and procedures as outlined in the Busser/Bar Back training. Must complete the Busser/ Bar Back training to ensure knowledge prior to working a solo shift. Must successfully attend and complete all other required training in compliance with local and state regulations, such as alcohol or food certifications.

The Busser/ Bar Back are required to reach with hands and arms. The Busser/ Bar Back must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

While performing the duties of this role, the Busser/ Bar Back are regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles from the kitchen. Busser/ Bar Backs are also occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions when in the dish area, freezer, keg room, or walk-in cooler. Additionally, Busser/ Bar Backs may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals when cleaning.
