Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities:What We’re Looking For:
Iridium is seeking a talented and motivated Application Programmer to join our Enterprise Applications team! In this role, you will collaborate with business users to gather information and translate their needs into comprehensive functional and technical requirements. This role will focus on analyzing, designing, implementing, and testing software solutions to address business objectives. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in implementing, configuring, and maintaining software applications, coupled with strong troubleshooting and issue-resolution skills. You will work closely with the Platform Manager to establish and uphold standards, best practices, and architecture for the team. This position will support and enhance our use of key application suites, including Atlassian, GitLab, and Artifactory.
What You’ll Do:
- Administer, configure, and maintain company software systems, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, error-free work
- Work collaboratively with management and end-users to improve business performance through process automation, with minimal guidance
- Investigate and analyze technology trends to identify opportunities for improving processes and efficiency
- Perform system upgrade tests and proactively resolve issues prior to implementation, providing guidance and support to affected teams
- Assist in creating and maintaining integrations between systems while executing new reporting requests
- Participate and gain experience in facilitating of the change management processes and ensuring compliance with SOX requirements
- Prioritize responsibilities effectively, managing multiple tasks with instruction from leadership as needed.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in software applications, systems, technical support, or software development.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Proven ability to work with business stakeholders to define and implement requirements effectively.
- Analytical mindset and critical thinking skills to recognize issues and propose creative, effective solutions independently.
- Exceptional time management skills to handle multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-quality results.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build stable working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and leadership
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
- Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
- Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
- Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for workflow automation and tool efficiency
- Experience with DevTools (e.g., Atlassian Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Crucible, Bamboo, GitLab, Artifactory)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and DevOps tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline management, version control systems (e.g., Git), and API integrations or workflow design using tools like Postman
- Proficiency with Atlassian DevTools Suite (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Crucible, Bamboo), GitLab, and JFrog Artifactory Suite
- Knowledge of Agile/SCRUM methodologies and experience in Agile development environments
- Solid documentation skills for creating user guides, system designs, and workflows
- Familiarity with ITIL principles or formal training in IT service management processes
- Relevant certifications in Atlassian products, GitLab, or similar platforms
We’ll also need you to:
- Be on call as needed
- Be able to travel up to 10% of the time
- Be able to work a hybrid schedule that includes at least 3 days in office (typically T-TH)
- Be a US Citizen
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
