About the Job
As COUNTRY’s Property Casualty Business Intelligence Supervisor, you will lead a team that ensures we remain compliant and current with all regulatory, legal, and contractual data reporting requirements. This includes working closely with other business areas to understand and adapt to changes in source files/processes (especially important is to understand the overall process flow and environment so you can identify when such proposed changes will impact the statistical reporting area). Collaborating with peers and leading the Statistical Reporting staff is a critical role at Country and one which requires the right combination of leadership, interpersonal skills, and technical skills. A familiarity with Property Casualty insurance (personal and commercial) would be very helpful in getting up to speed quickly in this role.
In addition to your leadership tasks as the Business Intelligence Supervisor, you will also utilize modern approaches to understand and update/rebuild older processes (examples of old and new: SAS, Focus, Mainframe, Tableau, Excel, SQL, Business Objects, Python, Essbase, QueryWizard, Cobal, and InSync) while ensuring that data quality, completeness, and timeliness of mandatory reporting is not impacted. This position requires a high degree of competency in both leadership as well as hands on data engineering work.
You will work closely with Business Compliance, Corporate Compliance, Actuary, Controllers, Accounting, and other Data areas in order to understand and improve/modernize multiple current data environments (especially mainframe/FOCUS based environments) to use a more modern approach in order to provide more flexible, easier to navigate, and more readily accessible data for our business partners and regulatory agencies. A key responsibility is the collection, curation, and balancing of data across all property casualty lines of business (Commercial, Farm, Home, Auto, Umbrella, etc.).
You and the members of your team will use your technical aptitude to develop, update, and execute automated data gathering, manipulation, and reporting in order to ensure we meet all of our data reporting requirements on time, on budget, as well as being responsible for curating data from a variety of diverse modern and legacy systems.
This role will both oversee and participate in the day-to-day work needed to research, analyze, design, develop, modernize, test, and implement systems solutions to meet a wide range of data reporting requirements and timelines as defined by regulatory bodies, internal business partners, and contractual obligations.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL.

- Collaborates with various business areas to assess and prioritize business intelligence needs.
- Works with business intelligence and research analysts as well as analytics and IT teams, to develop solutions for process owners.
- Develop and implement business plans, policies, and procedures related to providing business intelligence solutions.
- Evaluates results to determine if objectives are met.
- Manages the implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and activities in assigned areas. Maintains current contact information for all employees in applicable areas and communicates with non-recovery employees during a disaster.

Do you have what we're looking for?
- This is a leadership role, which typically requires 6+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training.
- Ability to review and understand project proposals from other business units and identify any impacts to the statistical reporting unit’s needs/data before the project moves forward (and offer/develop solutions to address any impacts)
- Ability to understand older code and create newer, more modern versions
- Drive personal and team attention to detail and on-time deliverables
- Insurance industry knowledge, especially of property casualty
- Regulatory and/or Governmental statistical reporting experience
- Flexibility and adaptability to drive change and envision/implement new solutions.
