Cochran is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Manager with a focus on private projects to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving our business growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing new opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of civil engineering principles, extensive experience in private project procurement, and a strong network within the industry and related organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research & Strategy Development:
- Identify and evaluate project opportunities
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company growth objectives
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape, and potential areas for expansion
Client Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Serve as the primary point of contact for private clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored solutions that meet client needs and align with regulatory requirements
Proposal Development & Negotiation:
- Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals, including RFPs, RFQs, and other procurement documents
- Work closely with technical teams to ensure proposals are technically sound, cost-effective, and competitive
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions, ensuring favorable outcomes for both the firm and the client
Project & Portfolio Management:
- Oversee the progress of secured private projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the client's satisfaction
- Monitor and report on project performance, addressing any issues or challenges that arise during the project lifecycle
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential projects, ensuring a steady flow of opportunities for the firm
Networking & Industry Engagement:
- Attend industry conferences, workshops, and networking events to stay informed about industry trends and to build professional relationships
- Represent Cochran at forums, presentations, and meetings with clients and other stakeholders
- Actively participate in relevant professional organizations and contribute to the firm's thought leadership efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. An advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business development, sales, or project management within the civil engineering, construction, or real estate development industries
- Proven track record of successfully securing and managing projects
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
- Highly motivated, with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools
