Industrial & Technical Solutions Business Development Sales Specialist
Summary: Works alongside Service Delivery Leadership supporting the tactical and strategic direction of Industrial & Technical division business development initiatives. Supports sales of all products and services across the entire Industrial & Technical division, including GPiLEARN+, technical performance solutions, craft skills training, assessments, technical documentation and training, Lean/6Σ training, continuous improvement, and automation related products and services. Leads the execution of sales strategies and account growth targets for new customers to the GP’s Industrial & Technical division. Develops and maintains business relationships with clients, partners, and potential sales channels via a consultative sales approach to fuel GP’s expansion of all technical product- and service-lines. Serves as the lead throughout the full range of business pursuits, including proposal development, product demonstrations, market research, client management, negotiation, and driving sales in deal closure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Represent the Industrial and Technical Solutions Division “brand” and the GP approach to presenting product capabilities and value proposition, developing and delivering demos, proposals and presentations for clients as required.
- Working backwards from the client problems/challenges, collaborate across GP Divisions and across the Industrial and Technical Solutions Division (which includes the GPiLearn+, Technical Performance Solutions, Smallpeice, and Rockwell organizations) to position the most effective client solutions.
- Must be a self-starter, resourceful, and be able to effectively manage multiple tasks at any given time
- Manages proposal development effort, coordinating with Service Delivery Leaders.
- Manages and develops executive relationships with decision makers and prospective clients in assigned regions or industries.
- Working alongside service delivery, sales, and marketing to support the development and implementation of a business/marketing plan which details strategies, determines potential new industries, markets, channel partnerships and regions to grow the product-line.
- Understand sales pipeline management to advance opportunities from initial lead through closure
- Ensures that sales targets are met based on individual, territory, and key account revenue targets
- Proactively assesses customer base and target industries. Develops strategy and executes deals in a timely manner.
- Develops solid working knowledge of GPiLEARN+ LMS and understanding of full suite of GPiLEARN+ content and how the interrelation of other GP Strategies service offerings
- Develops solid working knowledge of our custom technical training, documentation, and consulting solutions, including our core technical training course offerings, industry-specific solutions (Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Manufacturing), documentation capabilities, and other specialized products and services.
- Understand and execute effective account management to grow key accounts to long-term, large, and comprehensive contracts
- Effectively leverage the GP Strategies CRM for managing all leads, contacts, accounts, and opportunities. Updates and maintains all information, weekly forecasts, and sends timely reports as required.
- Maintain after sales communications to ensure customer satisfaction and prospect for new opportunities across client organization.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records and participates in routine meetings with Service Delivery Leads.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5-years’ experience in commerce-related field or relevant technical field and 8-years’ experience in sales or marketing.
- Professional Sales experience in both product and service areas (Professional Selling Skills or similar).
- Strong presentation skills.
- Selling for Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Asset Management and/or Performance experience highly preferred
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a team-oriented environment.
- Specific experience in the eLearning, Energy industry, or other highly technical heavy industries is a plus.
