POSITION SUMMARY
The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe and secure transportation for club members and club staff to and from designated club sites and club-sanctioned activities. The Bus Driver is expected to ensure adherence to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbia policies and procedures, perform thorough safety inspections, and assist with maintenance of club fleet.
Bus Driver essential job responsibilities:
Personnel
- Work in collaboration with other youth facing staff to ensure all procedures are being followed to ensure the safety of members being transported.
- Follow and uphold Club Code of Ethics and Club Values: Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Strategic Mgmt., Club Experience and Programs
- Youth Development
- Support programs, activities, and services.
- Occasionally supervise members and count into ratio during field trips
- Ensure a healthy and safe environment (physical and emotional) for all Club Members at all times.
- Follow and uphold Code of Ethics** for BGCC Staff.
- Follow and uphold licensing policies and regulations.
- Ensure familiarity with vehicle and proper operation
- Report any mechanical problems or damage to supervisor
- Maintain bus cleanliness
- Engage in all required staff meetings.
- Comply with all Club policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Safety
- Conduct regular pre and post safety checks to assess risk.
- Report any safety concerns, accidents, or fleet needs to Director of Operations in a timely manner.
- Assist Director of Operations with fleet cleanliness, maintenance, and general fleet needs.
- Completes all required safety trainings as required.
Resource Management
- Support efforts to achieve Club membership, retention and engagement goals.
- May participate in special programs and/or events.
- Communicate progress and developmental wins to parents on regular basis
- Assist with program participation via field trip permission slips, generate excitement among youth, etc.
RELATIONSHIPS
- Internal: Maintains close frequent contact with executive team leadership, youth facing program staff, other internal key stakeholders while transporting club members safely.
- External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, ensures healthy relationships are being fostered with club members, staff, and other community stakeholders during transport.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The following is a list of requirements for this position regarding education level, knowledge, job experiences, and skills:
- Ability to display knowledge and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbia.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and technologically adept with standard technology
- Ability to motivate youth, manage behavior, and maintain overall safety of the vehicle while transporting youth.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Have, or be able to secure, a valid Class E driver's license, have a good driving record, and have been licensed to drive for a minimum of three years to transport passengers in Club vehicles.
- Must Have, or willing to obtain a valid Class A (CDL) driver's license, have a good driving record, and have been licensed to drive for a minimum of three years to transport passengers in Club vehicles.
- Ability to travel short or long-distance may when/if required for business needs.
- Maintain mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.

- Strong advocate for youth needs, development, and ability to communicate on behalf of the youth voice.
- Detail Oriented with the ability to multitask several tasks as needed.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Requires the ability to periodically stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25lbs. (e.g. files, equipment)
- Regularly required to speak clearly and hear the spoken word well
- Regularly required to utilize near vision ability to read data and documents, including spreadsheets and reports, in printed form and on computer screens
- Ability to use a variety of equipment including janitorial and office equipment is required.
- Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion.
