About the Job
I am collaborating with a reputable Heavy Civil Construction Contractor seeking an Estimator/Project Manager to lead our Bridge/Structures Division. This role involves overseeing bidding processes and managing projects for 2-3 Bridge Crews, which currently generate over $5 million annually.
This position demands strong computer and leadership skills, as well as excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities. The Estimator/Project Manager will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs, time, materials, labor, and equipment required for various construction projects. Key tasks include conducting cost analyses, determining project timelines, sourcing vendors and subcontractors, and ensuring efficient resource management to meet project deadlines. Prior experience as an Estimator/Project Manager is essential to be considered for this position.
Key Skills:
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to identify the project scope and necessary content for estimating and change orders
- Calculate electrical construction costs based on available documentation
- Analyze projects for value engineering alternatives, considering specific job conditions impacting labor and materials
- Review and evaluate project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate bid proposals
- Identify and address inconsistencies, conflicts, and other issues within bid documents
- Obtain pricing and information from subcontractors and suppliers
- Prepare instructions for bidders, bid forms, and other relevant solicitation materials
- Manage the review and scoping of specialty contractor bids
- Explore alternative strategies to identify the most cost-effective methods
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups in alignment with company values
- Keep management, project teams, clients, general contractors, and other stakeholders informed about bid projects
- Actively engage with the industry, clients, and the community to enhance the company's reputation
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with vendors and clients
- Assist in turnover meetings with the operations team upon project award
- Promote and uphold a safe working environment
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience estimating Bridge/Structure projects
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Familiarity with industry estimating software, particularly the B2W Suite of field programs
- Strong attention to detail and proactive identification of potential issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Strong time management and prioritization skills for self and team members
