Job DescriptionDeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Branch Manager to oversee the daily operations of the NJ Branch location. The Branch Manager will be responsible for the overall functioning, supervision, and strategic direction of the assigned branch, ensuring efficient operations, exceptional customer service, and the achievement of financial and operational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Assess chemical and supply needs, purchase required materials and maintain inventory control.
- Collaborate with garage manager to ensure equipment and vehicles meet contract specifications and state traffic control guidelines.
- Ensure the availability of all necessary tools, equipment, and safety items for operations.
- Schedule and assign jobs to the team, ensuring that all staff are properly licensed and trained.
- Maintain job timelines, ensuring on-time completion and adherence to contract deadlines.
- Conduct pre-job meetings with customers and staff to review contract details.
- Monitor contract production to meet specifications, identify opportunities to increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Review and optimize hourly contracts, ensuring appropriate billing and expense management.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including pesticide, DOT, traffic control, OSHA, and EPA requirements.
- Oversee documentation, daily reports, and record-keeping, including job costing, invoicing, and P&L statements.
Personnel Management:
- Oversee and manage staff, including supervisors, foremen, technicians, and drivers.
- Identify staffing needs and assist in the hiring process, following HR policies and procedures.
- Conduct training programs (both classroom and on-site) to ensure team members are skilled and compliant with company standards.
- Provide ongoing coaching, support, and career development opportunities.
- Conduct performance evaluations, recommend pay increases, and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
Sales & Business Development:
- Collaborate with the Regional General Manager to develop and execute a branch sales plan.
- Explore new markets, expand service offerings, and convert in-house contracts into outsourced services.
- Conduct customer meetings, manage bids, and monitor account relationships.
- Attend trade and industry meetings to stay informed on market trends.
- Perform market research to assess competition and pricing strategies.
- Manage customer relationships, ensure high satisfaction, and resolve any issues or complaints.
- Ensure timely invoicing and follow-up on all outstanding accounts.
- Manage any public relations issues, including complaints or claims.
- Monitor quality control standards to ensure services meet both internal and contractual expectations.
- Stay updated on vegetation management practices, including herbicide application, equipment calibration, and spraying techniques.
- Gain proficiency in relevant systems (e.g., computers, injection, flow control systems).
- Continuously improve personal skills in management, sales, customer service, and team leadership.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Valid driver’s license with 3 years clean driving record and the ability to travel as required.
- 5 years of upper-level management experience in vegetation or greens industry required.
- Strong background in operations, budgeting, and staff development.
- Previous supervisory experience is essential, along with a track record of managing P&L statements and cost controls.
- Knowledge of DOT, pesticide regulations, traffic control, and OSHA guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, job costing software, and related tools.
- Aquatic vegetation management is a plus.
