Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Branch Manager. The Branch Manager manages and leads the overall performance of a retail branch office. Responsible for developing new retail and commercial client relationships and expanding existing relationships utilizing professional sales techniques to prospect, identify, and meet client needs. Works in cooperation and coordination with branch staff to achieve referral goals, production goals, and support a positive team atmosphere. Responsible for generating deposit, loan, and investment fee income growth to meet branch profit plan. Participates in business events and networking opportunities. Effectively works with key representatives from all areas of the company to send and accept referrals. Cross sells products and services; refers clients to sales personnel in other business lines. Accepts and processes retail and small business loan applications. Responsible for audit, compliance and security issues within branch office, ensuring compliance at all times. Communicates and supports the mission of the company. Completes other duties as assigned.
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Takes ownership of production goals for deposits, loans, fee income, and other goals that are assigned. Coordinates with branch staff and other business lines to achieve growth objectives. Utilizes standard sales techniques such as profiling, outside business development calls, cold calling and tele-consulting to generate business.
- Has a complete understanding of all products sold in the retail branch office and has familiarity with products sold by other business lines. Maintains knowledge of credit standards and loan processing procedures for retail and small business loans.
- Assists clients promptly and efficiently, ensuring service quality meets all required standards. Following established procedures, sells, services, and maintains all types of accounts. Resoles escalated client concerns by responding responsibly and provides support to staff in dealing with difficult situations. Authorizes official and customer checks and other items that require approval. Serves as a role model. Coaches staff on adhering to service standards.
- Responsible for daily operations of retail branch office. Ensures procedures are followed or makes authorized exceptions to procedure/policy to maintain optimal branch performance in service quality, accuracy, transactions, or decisions requiring a higher level of authority for approval or signature within the branch. Delegates duties to Assistant Manager as appropriate. Holds weekly branch meetings to promote ideas for meeting/exceeding business plan goals and to review operations, sales, and service topics.
- Supervises and coaches assigned branch staff to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities to maximize performance potential to support the company’s sales processes. Provides regular feedback to staff on progress. Documents performance and completes performance review forms in a timely manner.
- Follows established audit, security and compliance guidelines to protect the staff, company assets, and clients from harm or loss. Maintains familiarity with procedures and policies that are subject to audit to ensure audit scores are at acceptable levels.
- Represents Sandy Spring Bank to the client and community in a professional, courteous manner at all times. Exhibits quality behaviors that promote client trust. Organizes or participates in company sponsored community events.
- Suggests changes in products, policies, and procedures that would enhance client satisfaction, revenue, security, or operational efficiency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- If selected and hired for the position, continued employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of the required Training and Assessment.
- Position requires a minimum of 3 years retail sales banking experience to include at least 2 years of successful management/supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of banking products and related laws and regulations is required. Knowledge of standard audit and security procedures required. Ability to effectively lead, coach and motivate others is desired.
- Intermediate personal computer skills are required using standard windows-based software. Intermediate knowledge of the Metavante Banking System is also required through experience or on-the-job training.
- Position requires regular internal and external contact to carry out organizational objectives. Most often deals with matters requiring persuasion and approval. Ability to make productive business development calls is needed. Contacts involve a variety of levels and require advanced interpersonal skills to effectively deal with all types of people.
- Must have excellent ability speak, read and write English to effectively and professionally express ideas, in both written and oral form. Ability to prepare business correspondence, prepare and summarize complex reports, write procedures, interpret complicated policies is also necessary. Strong communication skills are needed to effectively supervise and guide others.
- Advanced problem solving skills are required. Problems are technically or administratively complex and require the collection, interpretation, and analysis of date from diverse sources.
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.
Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.
Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.

Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location.
