About the Job
Align Social Impact is hiring a contractor/consultant role to fill the open position of experienced part-time bookkeeper and financial controller, joining the New York team's growing social impact practice. Align is a full-service impact agency at the nexus of storytelling, research, culture and systems change, and we specialize in serving brand, nonprofit, talent and foundation clients worldwide to accelerate their impact in ways that can be felt and measured. The responsibilities include managing financial records, entering financial transactions, creating reports, reconciling bank statements, and managing accounts payable and receivable.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant, preferably in a similar role.
- Experienced with accounting software Freshbooks and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred but not required).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are a plus.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management review.
- Monitor cash flow and assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Collaborate with external accountants during tax preparation.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- 6-month Contract Part-time/Hourly position, approximately 4-5 hours per week.
- Flexible schedule, remote work.
- Hourly rate to commiserate with experience.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
