About the Job
Full-Time: Bioinformatician
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Masters/PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology or related field of study. Bioinformatics major preferred.
· One to two years of bioinformatics tools to next-generation sequencing data. (e.g. RNA sequencing, ChIP-seq, microbiome profiling) and/or related omics-level data (e.g. proteomics, metabolomics, mass cytometry).
Strong programming skills in common languages/packages used for bioinformatic and statistical analysis, especially R/Bioconductor/Tidyverse and/or Python. • Strong knowledge of statistical principles relevant to biomedical research. • Proven ability to contribute to publication of scientific manuscripts. • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches. • Proven self-initiative and ability to catalyze new projects or ideas. • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and analysis requests. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced by publications and/or presentations. • Competency with Unix/Linux-based command line tools and shell scripting. • Experience running and troubleshooting jobs in high performance and/or cloud computing environments. • Familiarity with principles of reproducible data analysis and good coding practice, including version control. • Experience analyzing and mining clinical data, cancer genomics, and related data sets. • Advanced statistical knowledge as applied to bioinformatics / genomics. • Advanced statistical knowledge as applied to clinical trial design and analysis. • Experience with large scale data curation and management. • Experience with relational databases and SQL. • Experience with Shiny apps and/or web interface development. Description of Duties :
Create reproducible markdown reports detailing data cleaning, processing, normalization, analysis, and visualization • Apply statistics and machine learning algorithms to derive biological meaning from data • Process and analyze genome, metagenome, and transcriptome data • Pathway and gene functional analysis • Extracting and working with large public databases of biological data (eg NCBI) • Stay up-to-date with the current and accepted methods for platform-specific data processing and analysis • Data wrangling and data manipulation • Data organization and version control • Other duties as may be assigned
Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000/yr.
