Billing Support Specialist - Veterans Evaluation Services (Hybrid - Houston, TX) - Maximus Services, LLC

Maximus is currently hiring for a Billing Support Specialist to join our Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) team. This is a hybrid position that requires you to work both onsite in our Houston, TX office as well as remotely. The Billing Support Specialist is responsible for scanning in claims and creating files so billers can process said claims for payment.

Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process invoices for payment from diagnostic facilities according to Medicare rates.
- Analyze accounts and use proper CPT codes and correct rates;
- Send out the denial letters to facilities for procedures, codes, and dates of service not ordered, or to request more information if needed;
- Ensure all doctors and claims status calls are answered in a professional manner.
- Process transportation expense claims for Veterans;
- Answer faxes and emails received from both hospitals and read facilities; and
- Frequently communicate with facilities and other departments within the company to request any information if needed to ensure the highest quality of QA and billing.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process Independent Medical Opinion payments;
- Process VBA mileage/expense reimbursements checks for providers and facilities;
- Process, investigate, and settle claims by Veterans that have been billed directly;
- Attend meetings as required;
- Process checks by stamping signature on checks, and verifying printed checks batch the EOB; and
- Other duties as assigned.

- Familiarity with CPT codes for claim charges;
- Advanced verbal and interpersonal skills;
- Advanced written communication skills, to include excellent grammar;
- Advanced reading and comprehension abilities;
- Advanced analytical skills and detail- oriented;
- Advanced multi- tasking skills;
- Advanced organizational and prioritization skills, with strong ability to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision;
- Proficient typing skills; and
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, general internet research, and beginner knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma required; Previous Billing experience preferred.

• Experience with Adobe and Microsoft Office highly preferred
• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs required
• Must live in or near Houston, TX
• Ability to work both remotely and onsite in our Houston, TX office required
• Ability to commit to a 1 month training period, fully onsite in the Houston office, with a schedule of 8:00am-4:30pm CT Monday-Friday with no absences required

• Preferred Windows or Mac (no Chromebooks)
• OS for Windows - Windows 10 or newer
• OS for Mac - Big Sur (11.0.1+); Catalina (10.15); MacOS (up to 12.5) or newer
• Connectivity to the internet via either Wi-Fi or Category 5 or 6 ethernet patch cable to the home router
• USB plug and play wired headset with a microphone and noise suppression
• Private work area and adequate power source
• A second monitor is highly recommended for most positions
• Must currently and permanently reside in the Continental US

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards.
