Path Assist is our tech-enabled community health worker program for HRSN utilizing an evidence-based, structured intervention. Role Overview:
The Housing Stabilization Specialist will act as a housing expert within their designated family emergency shelter program specializing in high-volume placements. This position requires regular on-site presence at a Norwood shelter site within Massachusetts, with occasional travel to other sites. They will focus on assisting families and individuals with their unique needs, to secure long-term housing for individuals that are currently displaced. The Housing Placement Coordinator will support housing initiatives, including but not limited to the development and standardization of onboarding, training, policies, and procedures and implement best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with shelter staff to assess and document family and individual needs, considering factors such as family size, geographic location, and public transit needs.
- Develop and deliver both on-site and virtual training for stuff on housing navigation resources, and approaches while providing follow-up in-person coaching for Care Coordinators at their designated location within Massachusetts.
- Develop and implement a performance management program for housing navigation efforts across shelter sites, collaborating with other locations to implement best practices.
- Capture accurate, timely data and drive initiatives to ensure continuous performance improvement.
- Maintain a clear understanding of any data discrepancies and how they relate to housing placement.
- Ensure compliance accuracy with program requirements and accuracy of data both internally and in databases.
- Flexible with operational and programmatic support to support family emergency shelter program operations as needed. This may include providing support on-site, ordering and distributing supplies, and assisting with general troubleshooting issues as needed.
- Develop and deliver effective training.
- Regular on-site presence at a designated shelter site within Massachusetts, with occasional travel to other sites.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of High School Diploma is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience providing intensive housing placement services
- Previous experience working within Emergency & Family Shelters settings
- Experience working with individuals who have recently immigrated to the US, particularly from Haiti is preferred
- Able to leverage housing navigation resources in Massachusetts to successfully connect families with long-term housing. Expertise in housing funding resources and opportunities.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training.
- Experience in shelters, social services or related environments supporting people with housing navigation.
- Requires excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate and work with staff and external partners of all skill and experience levels
- Strong in identifying problems and opportunities for improvement with plans for resolution.
- Must be able to work collaboratively and create an atmosphere of trust and respect within project teams and with external partners
- Must be highly organized and self-directed with a proven ability to work with supervision on projects of a diverse nature
- Intermediate Computer skills: including Excel, pivot tables, lookup functions, etc and other Microsoft Office products.
- High sense of diplomacy to recognize politically sensitive issues
- Ability to take personal initiative and work independently, as well as part of a team
- Valid Massachusetts Drivers License as well as consistent, reliable transportation with the ability to travel throughout Massachusetts
- Additional Language Abilities is preferred (Haitian Creole or Spanish)
