About the Job
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the daily administration of the Company’s benefits programs. This position will lead the HR team’s efforts with respect to all facets of benefits, ensuring the employee’s needs are met in a timely fashion. This position reports directly to the Director of Benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure benefit processing is completed in a timely manner consistent with company deadlines.
- Work closely with various insurance carriers to ensure Company benefit programs are functioning according to their respective agreements.
- Work closely with insurance broker on any benefits related issues as they arise.
- Lead annual benefit enrollment process, communicating program changes to the employee group. Oversee the preparation of all communication materials.
- Maintain Employee Handbook Benefits Supplement.
- Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
- Assist Compensation and Benefits Manager in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process of any Health, Life and Retirement plans that benefit the company.
- Process and submission of semi-monthly benefits changes and updates as they come in from the employees. Ensure all changes are pushed to the HRIS system.
- Coordinate and perform activities to update employee’s records with HR departments.
- Prepare various reports as requested by the Compensation and Benefits Manager.
- Perform daily and weekly audits of benefits programs. Prepare and process invoicing from various insurance carriers.
- Assist in the coordination and completion of internal and external audits of the Company.
- Support Compensation & Benefits Manager by completing special assignments and other miscellaneous duties assigned through department needs.
- Enter information into benefits platform of payroll processing system.
- Assist with employee benefits questions and direct to appropriate sources for resolution.
- Support Benefits Specialists as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or similar discipline; 2-4 years experience in HR related field with specific responsibility for benefits processing; a combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of benefit concepts, practices, and procedures along with HR laws and regulation.
- Experience with payroll processing systems such as Automatic Data Processing (ADP).
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Able to independently use MS Office products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
