The Arc of Evansville is hiring for a Behavioral Support Specialist Level 2. This position is responsible for providing assistance to those served by developing and implementing non-aversive behavior management plans in order to assist the person served in acquiring more appropriate and socially accepted skills.
Behavioral Supports are an array of services to support people who are experiencing or are likely to experience challenges accessing, and actively participating in the community as a result of behavioral, social, or emotional challenges. Job Duties:
- Complete the functional behavioral assessment which includes observation, environmental assessment, record reviews, interviews, data collection, complete psychosocial and biomedical history to identify targeted behaviors, the function of those behaviors, and to hypothesize the underlying need for new learning.
- Foster and support a person-centered thinking atmosphere.
- Develop a comprehensive behavioral support plan and subsequent revisions.
- Devise proactive and reactive strategies designed to support the person served.
- Obtain consensus from the individualized support team that the behavioral support plan is feasible for implementation.
- Support those served in learning new, positive behaviors as outlined in the behavioral support plan.
- Train staff, family members, housemates or other team members on the implementation of the behavioral support plan.
- Consult with team members to achieve the outcomes of assessment and behavioral support planning.
- Complete all documentation as related to behavioral support services on a daily basis and ensures documentation meets agency and IAC 460 standards.
- Monitors safety of those served and reports injuries, accidents and incidents following appropriate procedures.
- Provides services within the guidelines of the Medicaid Waiver and BDDS service definitions.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding staff, people served and family members.
- Meets regularly with Level 1 Behavioral Support Services to review behavior support plans and strategies.
- Markets services to area providers. Conducts meetings with people who may desire Behavior Support Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Either:
- Have a master's degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, or another applied health service area of psychology; special education; social work; or counseling; or
- Be a licensed marriage and family therapist licensed under IC 25-23.6; or
- Be a licensed clinical social worker under IC 25-23.6; or
- Be a licensed mental health counselor under IC 25-23.6
- Meets all provider qualifications and standards as defined by BDDS for Level 2 Behavioral Support Specialist.
- Meets the continuing education requirements to maintain Level 2 Behavioral Support Specialists.
- Good computer, oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to maintain a positive relationship with community organizations, as well as with family members and other service providers.
- Performs with minimum supervision.
- Maintains certifications for First Aid and CPR.
- Completion of crisis intervention MANDT training upon hire and maintains annual MANDT recertification.
- Must pass a Department of Motor Vehicles background check and hold a valid driver's license.
- Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record, i.e., less than 3 moving violations within 3 years.
- Have and maintain state minimum automobile insurance coverage
