About the Job
The Delta Hotels Minneapolis Northeast is seeking a full time, hourly Bartender.
As a premier Northeast destination restaurant, the TC400 Tavern Bartender's primary responsibility will be to take drink orders, prepare mixed drinks and deliver Remarkable Hospitality to patrons at the bar.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare drinks for customers seated at the bar, and for servers placing orders for guests in their service area.
- Serve wine, bottled, craft, and/or draft beer, and liquor.
- Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins and/or straws.
- Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
- Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
- Create drink recipes.
- Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
- Serve food items to customers seated at the bar.
- Trained in effective and responsible alcohol service.
- Control guest checks and secure proper payment.
- Complete side and closing duties.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar area and cleaning all glassware.
- Maintain an accurate cash bank and follow established cash handling policies.
- Assists the food service team in all aspects of service.
- Obtain and maintain knowledge of current industry trends as it relates to beverage service.
- Ability to describe all menu items, alcoholic items, pricing and methods of preparation, with the ability to pass periodic testing requirements.
- Ability to ascend ladders and reach above head for inventory and supply replenishment purposes.
- Assist and serve all guests and co-workers (in person and on the phone) in a sincere, friendly, positive and courteous manner.
- Communicate clearly and courteously ensuring compliance with remarkable hospitality standards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand, walk and exert well-paced activity for up to 4 hours in length.
- Most tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is controlled by a hotel environmental system. Inside temperature is controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures to include the kitchen and kitchen coolers.
- Must be able to speak clearly, read, write and understand the primary languages used in the workplace.
- May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 pounds on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to bend, squad and lift 40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to pull and push carts frequently and as needed.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited spaces.
- Must be able to stoop, twist, turn, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, stoop, and stretch per cleaning tasks.
- Ascend or descend stairs, steps, or similar uneven surfaces to access any required work area or other area related to functioning in the workplace.
- Must be able to grasp, handle, write, bend, climb and perform repetitive motions.
- Requires listening and hearing ability.
- Visual acuteness; must be able to see things near and have depth perception.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment needed to perform job including, but not limited to, using cutlery to cut fruit.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- At least two years of bartending experiences in a high volume, fast paced, upscale bar environment.
- High School or equivalent education required.
- Must be minimum age to serve alcohol and be able to obtain a TIPS certified and/or food handling certificate as required by the establishment.
- Regular and dependable attendance is required. Attendance at scheduled meetings and training sessions is required.
- Must maintain a neat, well-groomed and clean appearance according to the standards set forth by the establishment.
- Schedules are assigned by management. Employees may be asked to work varying schedules to accommodate the business needs of the restaurant due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality business. Employees must be available to work weekdays and weekends as needed.
