About half an hour south of Albany, NY sits a private 10-stall farm that is home to 9 horses consisting of foals, young horses, show horses, and 30-year old retirees. This Hudson River Valley farm has Catskill Mountain views, incredible sunsets, and wooded horse trails. The owners have a single foal born per year, into a family friendly collaborative environment. Each horse, both young and old, is loved as an individual and cared for in the best of ways. In addition to the horses, there is acreage that is being turned into hay producing fields!
Job Description:
We are searching for a candidate who enjoys providing all care and husbandry for 8-10 horses, operating farm and land maintenance machinery, maintaining a farm, and communicating openly with owners, other employees, and barn visitors. Ideal character of this person is an open-minded individual comfortable working with all disciplines from Western to English, care and trust-based horse training methods, utmost confidence with young horses and babies and a strong affinity for keeping a barn neat and tidy both in the warm and cold seasons. This is a 5 day per week position with two portions of expectations. On the equine side, daily care and companionship for the beloved pets on the farm, the other side is a facility management role, comprising of mowing, plowing, using heavy equipment, and other such trail and farm maintenance tasks.
On the agricultural side our ideal candidate will also have experience planning, installing(planting), managing, and utilizing hay fields! The owners are in the process of plowing and planting over 20 acres with timothy and orchard grass to offset farm costs! Flexible to purchase equipment necessary to install these fields if our candidate has experience-based knowledge and ability.

- Able and Willing to Operate Large Machinery, Fix Fences, Mow, Plowing, etc.
- Comfortable and confident around foals, young horses, mares, and show horses (Small Animals too!)
- Great Work Ethic and Attention to Detail
- Open Minded and Supportive in a Learning Environment
Additional Skills but Not Required:
- Hay Field Planning and Implementation
- Knowledge of Best Practices for a Successful Hay Operation
- Experience Running a Hay Operation
