The essential functions of this role are as follows:Perform all phases of grooming services such as shampoos, sets, hair cuts andstyling, manicures, shaves, facial hairremoval, permanents, hair coloring, make-up techniques and scalp treatmentsaccording to physicians’ orders and mix avariety of hair treatment solutions.Ensure barber/beauty shop and equipment meet all applicable health, sanitationand safety regulations and standards bymaintaining orderliness and cleanliness, laundering towels and sterilizingcombs, brushes, and tools.Estimate and order new and replacement equipment and supplies.Maintain a variety of simple records such as appointment books, work reports,and inventory records.Provide grooming services to immobile patients.Escort patients to and from wards and restrooms.The job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listingof activities, duties or responsibilities that arerequired of the employee. Other duties, responsibilities and activities maychange or be assigned at any time with or withoutnotice.You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:Must be a licensed beauty operator in the State of Indiana or have an IndianaState License for barbers.Knowledge of the rules and regulations of sanitary health laws and cosmetology.Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of beauty/barber shop equipment.Knowledge of, and skill in, the modern methods of hair, facial, scalp care andbarbering practices.Ability to work tactfully with, and control patients with a variety of mental,physical and emotional problems.As a Beautician, you will stand for long periods of time requiring frequentbending, lifting, reaching and arm strain in theperformance of duties and the positioning and restraint of clients. You mustpossess manual dexterity sufficient to groom andstyle hair. Your work is usually performed in a clean, well-lit beauty shop orhospital room where substandard lightingventilation and cooling are sometimes present. You are occasionally exposed tohair sprays, fumes from permanents,peroxide and dye solutions. Minor hazards are present during use of cuttingtools near sometimes unpredictable mentalpatients or inmates.The Beautician provides a wide variety of services in the overall grooming careof individual patients. Thisposition works independently following general instructions and standardprocedures of profession and is the final authority onthe quality of grooming services. Youwill also notify doctors or nurses when scalp irritations occur. Care must beexercised when providing services due to the unprepatient or inmate behavior.Personal Work Relationships:This individual will be expected to partner with agency personnel and relatedstakeholders workingtowards completion of assigned functions. Exceptional customer service isprovided to agency partnersand/or the general public.A high level of judgement and effective communication is required during timesof contact with residentsor incarcerated individuals.Physical Effort:Depending on the duties performed or environment setting, frequent walking,standing, climbing stairs orladders, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and/or similar movements may beinvolved.This role may experience long periods of repetitive movements requiring stamina.Pay per service agreement:Pay rate to contractor$20 Shampoo, haircut, and style$10 Beard trim$30 combo$15 per hour of training- including 4-day new orientation and ongoing requiredtrainings
