Position: Banquet Cook

Are you a talented and passionate chef with a flair for creating exceptional banquet experiences? The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown Portland is seeking an experienced and innovative Banquet Cook to facilitate our banquet culinary team!
What You'll Do:
- Plan, prepare, and execute high-quality banquet menus for a variety of events.
- Ensure all banquet dishes are presented beautifully and consistently.
- Manage and oversee banquet kitchen operations, including inventory, staffing, and scheduling.
- Collaborate with event planners to create customized menus that exceed guest expectations.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, train, and supervise the banquet kitchen team to ensure high performance and adherence to standards.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Quality Control:
- Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Implement and maintain food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations.
- Conduct regular quality checks and adjust processes as needed to improve outcomes.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Executive Chef, event planners, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination of events.
- Attend event planning meetings and provide culinary expertise to create exceptional guest experiences.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Financial Management:
- Manage food cost and labor cost within budgetary guidelines.
- Monitor and control waste, portion sizes, and inventory levels.
- Assist with the development and implementation of cost-saving measures.
- Additional Duties:
- Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate new techniques and ideas into the banquet menu.
- Participate in hotel meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Banquet Cook or in a similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
- Exceptional culinary skills and creativity in menu planning and execution.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
