Department Summary:The mission of Student Affairs Information Technology (SAIT) is to provide innovative technical services and solutions that serve and advance the vision of Student Affairs and the University. We work collaboratively with campus partners and provide leadership in creating effective and efficient information technology services for our students, staff, faculty and community.SAIT's work is primarily focused on providing technical services to public facing Student Affairs departments and several online services for the campus community.Position Summary:Working skills and methodologies in managing limited to moderately complex operational systems including providing guidance, managing scope, setting priorities, establishing timelines, directing modifications, assigning work, and providing feedback, and applying intermediate knowledge. (Required) Working skills in eliciting and developing business requirements, specifying and designing inputs and outputs, producing system and programming specifications and requirements and recommending modifications to existing programs and processes. (Required) Working skills in systems analysis and design for limited to moderately complex systems including completing feasibility studies of projects, analyzing functional processes, determining scope, developing overall system requirements, and producing detailed system and programming specifications. (Required) Working project management, business systems analysis skills, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze operational and organizational systems: define the problem or objective; identify relevant concerns or factors; recognize and propose alternatives and their implications. (Required) Working ability to define testing procedures and rigorously carry out such procedures. Working ability to prototype and design user-interface solutions to user problems. Intermediate knowledge of user-interface design patterns and ability to use tools to prototype user interfaces. (Required) Intermediate knowledge of complex on-line interactive systems and ability to schedule production reports; PC software including MS Office and Adobe products. Intermediate knowledge of HTML, SQL, SQL objects, Visual Basic, VB Script, VBA, and JavaScript or related programming language. (Required) Intermediate knowledge of business systems analysis methodologies which includes developing business systems analysis artifacts, such as wireframes, use cases, traceability matrix, and process models (Required) Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively and diplomatically with diverse groups of administrators, colleagues, managers, technical staff, faculty, students, staff, vendors, representatives of governmental agencies and the public. (Required) Demonstrated skills in setting priorities, meeting competing deadlines, and handling varying requirements and job complexities. Demonstrated oral communication skills sufficient to represent the team and interact effectively in meetings with management, technical, and functional teams. (Required) Working ability to write comprehensive, well-organized, and lucid reports and to write instructional/technical documentation with systems requirements and design with detailed processing requirements, and programming specifications. Ability to overcome obstacles and meeting deadlines. (Required) Intermediate knowledge of Federal and State laws and University of California policies regarding privacy and public information; working knowledge of student record policies and procedures. Working knowledge of University student systems and their relationships. (Preferred) Working ability to learn new programming languages and new technology. Working ability to work independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction and working as part of a team. Working ability to perform with constant interruptions and distractions. The Business Systems Analyst Level 2 will provide support and assist in analysis for Student Affairs Systems, which includes limited to moderately complex systems, but not limited to, Student Information Systems, Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), Student Records Systems, Student Affairs Department Systems, and will be applying intermediate knowledge of business and process analysis functions as they pertain to Student Information Systems. Assist with creating and maintaining sketches, workflow diagrams, wireframes and mock-ups based on models created from department discovery process. Involve in analysis and resolve production system problems in Student Affairs systems and campus systems.
