Job Description
CDM Smith has an exciting new opportunity for an Automation Technician to support our clients in the Greater Boston area!
You will contribute to CDM Smith’s mission by:
• Assisting Engineers with on-call and as-needed SCADA contracts. Tasks include maintenance, troubleshooting, and modifications to existing control system software.
• Modifying and creating basic to complex human-machine interface (HMI) graphics, programmable logic controller (PLC) programs and custom reports.
• Assisting with configuration and testing of control system equipment, including supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) servers, PLCs, workstations, network switches, and communications equipment in our Boston Automation Lab and in the field.
• Assisting with staging and set-up of control systems in our Boston Automation lab and in the field.
• Developing software Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
• Developing and delivering operator training for installed SCADA components.
• Reviewing contractor shop drawings and providing contractor clarifications on instrumentation and control system designs.
• Overseeing control system testing by a contractor and providing troubleshooting guidance to assist in resolution of control system issues.
• Performing basic instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using Plant 3D, AutoCAD or Revit software.
• Assisting with Instrumentation and Controls designs including specification development, control system architectures, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and control system hardware and software selection.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma
• 3 years of relevant experience
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
