The Audio-Visual Tech is responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of audiovisual technology within the College of Southern Nevada. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of AV equipment in classrooms, event spaces, and other campus facilities.
The Audio-Visual Tech plays a vital role in planning, scheduling, and delivering AV services for diverse events, including conferences, lectures, meetings, and special occasions. Collaborating closely with the Technical Experiences Manager and the CSN Events Team, the Audio-Visual Tech ensures seamless AV support. This position also entails supervising and training student workers, managing equipment inventories, and contributing to the continuous improvement of AV services by researching and implementing new technologies. Tech enhances technological experiences for students, faculty, and staff, playing a crucial role in supporting the College's academic and business activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Research, plan, and execute AV technology installations in classrooms and event spaces
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting for AV equipment across campus
- Train and mentor students and staff on AV technology usage and troubleshoot issues
- Ensure adherence to guidelines and protocols for all AV systems
- Collaborate with contractors to facilitate AV technology installations and upgrades
- Consult with event organizers to assess AV equipment and labor requirements
- Coordinate AV staffing for special events and ensure successful support
- Maintain AV equipment inventories and recommend system upgrades
- Operate complex sound, lighting, and media presentation systems
- Recruit, train, and supervise student workers for AV technology and events
- Collaborate with internal teams to support AV service needs for various events
- Assist in planning and executing major campus events, ensuring AV support
- Contribute to webcasts, podcasts, video conferences, and audio teleconferences
- Prepare facilities for AV services and troubleshoot concerns
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Adapt to event schedules, including evenings and weekends
- Utilize computer skills in both Windows and Apple operating systems
- Apply basic electrical, mechanical, and networking skills for AV equipment
- Utilize specialized knowledge of classroom technology systems
- Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Engage in continuous improvement of AV services and technology

Education
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Relevant certifications in AV technology or related field (e.g., AVIXA CTS, CompTIA A+) Familiarity with AV equipment brands such as Extron, Crestron, AMX, etc, a plus
Experience
- Customarily has at least 2 years of experience in audiovisual technology support, installation, and troubleshooting. Experience working with multimedia equipment and systems in a professional setting
- Experience in providing AV support for academic institutions or event venues, preferred
- Experience coordinating AV services for conferences, lectures, or performances, a plus
