HonorHealth is looking for an Athletic Trainer to support our new Sports Physical Therapy division. This is a dynamic and established team made up of Providers, other Athletic Trainers, Sports Physical Therapists, Therapy Services Aides, Reg Sched roles and a Patient Account Representative. This is a fast-paced sports clinic that will provides services to student athletes of all ages in the Scottsdale Unified School District, both ortho & sports injuries. This is an amazing time to join the Honor Family to help support local athletes in their care and recovery. This role will float when needed to specified (5) high schools within the District to give support when and where need to their sports team. To ensure success in the role the ideal candidate should be flexible, possess good communication skills along with meeting the minimum requirements of the role.

Responsibilities:Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Lead Athletic Trainer, the Athletic Trainer is responsible for the evaluation, administration, and oversight of evidence-based treatment of student athletes in the field and clinical setting. The Athletic Trainer will develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaboration with the student athlete/family to assist in returning them to their prior level of function. An act in accordance with physician referral guidelines, state and national organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures. This position will interface with physicians, co-workers, caregivers, family members, student athletes, and other healthcare providers. Contributes to process improvement and responsible for professional growth, as well as policy enforcement, and record keeping.
- Provide comprehensive athletic care, and treatment, in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with the Athletic Trainer’s education and training as well as national and state statutes, rules and regulations, both on and off the field.
Evaluates student athletes and develops appropriate plan of care. Delivers the six domains of athletic training: prevent, protect, evaluate, assess, rehabilitate, and counsel.
Acts as a resource for athletic training-related issues to assistive personnel and staff from other departments.
Refers student athletes to appropriate HonorHealth physicians and care providers to promote outcome alignment and collaborative care. Confers with all referred physicians to clarify treatment plan and discuss student athlete's needs, status, and discharge plans.
Serves as a liaison between physicians, administrators, coaches, parents, and student athletes regarding injury prevention, diagnosis, care, management, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Maintains record of student/athlete interactions/visits/sessions in EMR software. - Supervises assigned athletic training team and at designated location. Mentors, leads, schedules and directs their assigned staff, ensuring quality of care. Contributes to the recruitment, training and retention of athletic training staff.
Ensures emergency action plans and safety action plans for all athletic venues and events are reviewed with team at minimum at the beginning of each season. Organizes semi-annual drills for each plan at each venue. Assists in the identification of department needs and process improvements.
Responsible for management of assigned athletic training clinic including but not limited to, inventory management, cleanliness and sanitization, organization, staffing, scheduling, and supervises/educates students, volunteers, and the community. - Educates interns, students, volunteers, and the community on appropriate care, training, and safety measures.
As assigned, acts as preceptor to any assigned student athletic trainer; teaches and trains student on standards of care, assigns, instructs, and directly supervises care delivered by the student athletic trainer. Works directly with students’ university and provides reports. - Participates in departmental and interdepartmental staff meetings, in-services, utilization review programs, committees, student preceptor and/or mentor programs and others as assigned.
Required to attend and participate in all pre-season physical exam clinics.
Responsible for maintaining all required licenses and certifications - Ability to work variable and irregular hours and shifts on a regular basis.
Performs Other Responsibilities as assigned
