Description:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Athletic Trainer to provide full-time support to an Orthopedic Surgeon in a fast-paced medical practice. As an Athletic Trainer, you will play a critical role in assisting the surgeon in providing high-quality care to patients with orthopedic conditions. Your responsibilities will include both administrative tasks and direct patient care duties. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for working with people.

Primary Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies.
- Greet and room patients, take patient history; document and share information with physician and/or PA.
- Discuss the patient’s initial evaluation and plan of care with the physician and/or PA
- Carry out prescribed treatments and recommendations by the physician and/or PA including dressing changes, suture removal, and injection preparation.
- Responsible for DME fitting and education.
- Perform basic wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal under the direction of the surgeon.
- Educate patients on post-operative care, home exercises, and rehabilitation protocols.
- Prepare and educate patients and their families by explaining the process and providing reassurance.
- Potential for assisting in the operating room and conducting post-op clinic independently.
- Other duties as assigned within scope.
Administrative Support:
- Triage and respond timely and appropriately to patient phone calls and paperwork, including but not limited to resolving issues within the scope of duties or utilizing physician and/or PA or other team members as needed.
- Schedule patient appointments, and follow-up visits, coordinate with other departments as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR), documenting patient encounters, procedures, and treatment plans.
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers, diagnostic imaging facilities, and physical therapy as needed.
- Manage and organize patient medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Athletic Training required.
- BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (BOC) required.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience with applicable patient care and administrative duties is preferred, but willing to train the right individual.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and workflow management skills required.
- Must maintain a professional attitude towards patients and an excellent and collegial working relationship with other personnel involved in patient care.
- Must have strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, the ability to work independently, and manage time effectively.
- Computer and EHR software proficiency.
