Key Responsibilities of Assistant Finance Director:

• Lead and manage the implementation of accounting systems, procedures, and controls to ensure efficient operations.
• Oversee and verify work across accounting, payables, receivables, purchasing, and payroll functions within the Finance Department.
• Prepare comprehensive financial statements and reports adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Collaborate on the preparation of the annual departmental and capital budgets, contributing forecasts and detailed analyses.
• Establish and maintain accurate accounting records for special projects, grants, and related fiscal matters.
• Compile and deliver statistical and narrative reports for federal, state, and local agencies.

Qualifications of Assistant Finance Director:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• Expertise in accounting principles and GASB financial reporting, with a focus on governmental and municipal finance.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing teams and fostering collaborative working relationships.
• Proficiency in computerized accounting systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with ADP Workforce Now and Munis Enterprise (highly preferred).
• Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and apply financial data to align with federal, state, and municipal regulations.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and the public.
