Job Summary
The Campus Camps program is content-driven experiences available both in-person and online. Camps are designed to inspire students to explore their unique interests. Camps draw upon the resources of the University of Utah to provide campers ages 6-17 with numerous hands-on learning opportunities in a fun, comfortable, and welcoming environment.
Our instructors are responsible for developing and facilitating weeklong (half-day or full-day) summer camps across our Campus Camps and Pre-College programs. They teach one or more camps throughout the summer, depending on their interest and availability. Typically, our instructors are interested in a specific STEM-related topic; however, we also offer camps like creative arts, cooking, outdoor recreation, and more!
Responsibilities
- Teach at least 1 full week of camp. Camps can be half day (9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm) or full day (9am-3pm or 9am-4pm).
- Work with Youth Education staff to create title, description and learning objectives for your camp.
- Create and teach curriculum for assigned camps (with approval). Some past curriculum is available to use and/or modify for a camp.
- Classroom and behavior management.
- Safety and welfare of students.
- Create supply lists for each camp (when applicable).
- Maintain and keep supplies/equipment in good condition (or alerting Youth Education of defective equipment).
- Keep the classroom and surrounding area(s) neat and clean.
- Be familiar and follow through with Youth Education policies.
- Completion of Safety of Minors training.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in topic being taught.
- Experience working with kids.
- Ability and desire to work in a temporary work-setting.
- Demonstrate good character, integrity and adaptability.
- Self-directed, punctual and highly organized.
- Needs to be at least 18 years old.
