Associate General Counsel - LightEdison

About the Job
LightEdison, Inc. ("LightEdison") is looking for an experienced and commercially minded energy construction attorney to join our legal team as an Associate General Counsel. Members of our legal team are true business partners providing the legal expertise needed to develop, finance, build, and operate large-scale solar and storage projects throughout the United States. This position will report to the General Counsel and will be based in Bozeman, Montana. This is an in-office position only.
What You'll Do
- Negotiate, manage, and enforce EPC contracts, operations, and maintenance contracts, subcontracts and related agreements.
- Collaborate with LightEdison's construction, development, and finance teams during development and financing of projects.
- Proactively manage risk across the LightEdison construction portfolio, guiding construction management teams in risk mitigation techniques and drafting notices and
solving dynamic issues in real time. - Train construction and operational teams to understand, implement, and enforce contractual requirements.
- Advise and assist with construction and contractual claims and disputes with general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers including ensuring compliance with mechanics
lien and bonding requirements. - Control the flow down of key provisions in financing and EPC agreements into procurement agreements and subcontracts.
- Assist project teams to ensure appropriate subcontracting requirements are met and issues are resolved.
Must-Haves:
- 3-5 years of corporate and EPC experience in the energy industry, preferably in solar or renewable energy.
- Substantial transactional experience in a law firm and/or in-house at an energy or construction company.
- A positive attitude that embraces LightEdison's core values.
- Demonstrated success in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating utility-scale solar and storage construction and operation contracts.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage conflict and mitigate risk.
- Experience with renewable energy project finance transactions.
Education and Certifications
- J.D. from accredited US law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

- Ability to work independently and raise issues and propose solutions for the broader team.
- Located in Bozeman, Montana or willingness to relocate.
