We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join the Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in San Diego, CA. Reporting to the Corporate FP&A Manager, this role will support forecast, budget, and reporting cycles through preparation of indirect rate calculations, process documentation, and internal consolidated reporting for General Atomics & Affiliates.
DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
Indirect Rate Calculation/Forecasting/Budgeting
+ Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for submission to C-Suite and Government.
+ Analyze and calculate overhead rates for different departments, projects, or cost centers within the organization.
+ Utilize established methodologies and cost allocation principles to distribute overhead expenses effectively.
+ Monitor industry standards and best practices to ensure the accuracy and relevance of overhead rate calculations.
+ Gather and analyze financial data related to overhead expenses, including direct labor costs, indirect costs, and administrative expenses.
+ Prepare detailed reports and presentations for forecast and budget cycles summarizing overhead allocations, variances, and trends.
+ Present findings to management and stakeholders, offering insights to support strategic decision-making processes.
+ Identify opportunities to streamline overhead allocation processes and improve efficiency.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement enhancements to cost accounting systems and methodologies.
+ Continuously review and refine procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
+ Assist in the development of financial models and forecasts to project future overhead expenses.
+ Participate in budgeting and planning activities, providing input on overhead cost projections and assumptions.
+ Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of potential changes in overhead rates on overall financial performance.
+ Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, analysis, and explanations related to overhead allocations.
+ Assist in the resolution of Government audit findings and recommendations, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Reporting/Documentation
+ Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI reports and dashboards.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their reporting requirements and translate them into effective data visualizations.
+ Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all reports and dashboards.
+ Provide support and training to end-users on how to use Power BI reports and dashboards.
+ Create and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, manuals, FAQs, and process documentation.
+ Develop clear and concise content that is easily understandable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Update documentation regularly to reflect changes in processes, tools, and technologies.
+ Ensure all documentation adheres to company standards and guidelines.

Job Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and/or finance and three or more years of progressive professional cost accounting experience in a corporate environment, preferably with a government contractor. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
+ Experience in cost analysis, financial planning, or accounting is preferred
+ Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
+ Familiarity with cost accounting principles and overhead allocation methods.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
+ Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
+ Basic knowledge of Power BI or other data visualization tools (training will be provided).
+ Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
