$122,250 - $179,300API EM (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients - External Manufacturing) is a growing area of the company that is responsible for assuring the manufacture and supply of custom raw materials, intermediates, and active ingredients that are made by 3rd parties. This role will support the area involved in supplying many legacy phase products, late phase products, and new commercial launch products from both the internal and external pipeline.

Operational Excellence Overview
Operational excellence within M&Q is meant to drive simplified and standardized approaches among sites, assess cross-functional integration, find opportunities to improve, and empower sites to prioritize their own OE agendas. This position will be the primary driver of results for operational excellence initiatives across the site.
The person in this role will be successful by influencing, leading and delivering impactful results for both product-based and business operational improvements. As a result, the role will have a high level of exposure to site leadership and be expected to network and benchmark with leaders at other MFG sites, and corporate functions. Success will come through using a mix of traditional continuous improvement methods like PDCA, Six Sigma, and Lean, combined with business process creation, project management, and OCM to drive sustainable results. A high level of motivation, positive orientation, and autonomy is required.
Below are the key areas of responsibility for the position:
Business Partnering and Project Execution
- Understand API EM's business and be able to effectively drive projects toward site goals
- Meet and communicate with the site champion, the site head, and other leaders to assure projects are aligned to organizational goals
- Help shape and drive the transformation agenda by facilitating off-site workshops with the extended Lead Team
- Implement the projects identified on the site transformation agenda
- Be part of the central hub for identifying and prioritizing opportunities, use effective project management to enable teams to implement quickly, track and communicate project status and results, remove and/or raise barriers, and develop team members
- Identify projects at other sites and consider if they may be replicated, or vice versa. Identify integration opportunities/issues with other projects/processes and coordinate the improvements with the appropriate owners. Projects will naturally span multiple locations, globally
- Ensure open communication throughout the organization. This includes keeping the Site Champion and Continuous Improvement Lead Team (CILT) informed of project status, as well as the employee base through forums like Town Halls
- Lead the site through the annual Operational Excellence Assessment Process, and integrate the results with the site transformation agenda
- Influence site leadership and employees to improve governance and create sustainable results with lasting organization change
- Learn and apply the fundamentals of the Manufacturing Standards of Operational Excellence
Reporting, Forecasting and Benchmarking
- Maintain reporting for site-wide CI efforts by adding, tracking, and closing Projects in myLSS
- Maintain the department project hopper
- Calculate financial valuation on projects, including the Technical Agenda, and network with site finance
- Work with the site champion to deliver a prioritized CI Lead Team agenda and facilitate the meetings
- Organize learning and benchmarking opportunities for the department, which is focused on Continuous Improvement programs, as well as external manufacturing as a business model
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, technical preferred.
- More than 5 years of six sigma/black belt/continuous improvement.
