Join us. **Job Description** **AECOM** is seeking a Assistant Traffic Engineer to be based in Orange, CA. **Position Responsibilities** + Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer + Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures + Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests + Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered + Identifies discrepancies in results + Provides guidance to entry level engineers + Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision **Qualifications** **Minimum Requirements** + BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience and exposure to Caltrans work and projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + 1+ years of Caltrans design experience **Preferred Qualifications** + Knowledge of Caltrans related to traffic engineering and planning; familiarity with associated reference manuals such as Highway Capacity Manual and CA MUTCD. + Familiarity with AUTOCAD or Microstation + Experience in traffic signal design, signing and striping design, and traffic handling plans. + Experience in traffic operational analysis such as HCS and Synchro + Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, and demonstrate effective time management skills **Additional Information** + This position does not provide sponsorship Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
