In the role as an Assistant Retail Manager for Building Products, this position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of building materials, and the ability to provide excellent customer service while maintaining store performance. You will be responsible for overseeing sales, inventory, staff management, and ensuring a smooth operational flow within the store.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in driving sales by providing exceptional customer service, advising customers on building products, and recommending solutions to their needs.
- Help customers with product inquiries, orders, and product recommendations based on their specific project needs.
- Promote and upsell related products to increase store sales and meet sales targets.
- Supervise, mentor, and train retail staff to ensure a high standard of service and operational efficiency.
- Assist with staff scheduling and ensure the store is adequately staffed during peak hours.
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages cooperation and a customer-centric approach.
- Assist in managing inventory levels, ensuring that products are stocked, organized, and displayed according to store guidelines.
- Oversee inventory counts and help with restocking procedures, including reordering products and managing overstock.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of building materials to avoid damage and minimize waste.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
- Assist in the implementation of promotional activities and merchandising strategies to increase product visibility.
- Ensure compliance with store policies, health and safety regulations, and company standards
- Address customer complaints and concerns professionally and efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Build long-term relationships with customers by providing expert advice and personalized service.
- Assist the Retail Manager with financial transactions, daily sales reports, and cash handling.
- Track and report on store performance metrics such as sales targets, customer feedback, and product availability.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Business Management, Retail, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in retail management or a similar role in a building materials, home improvement, or hardware store is preferred.
- Experience with sales, inventory management, and team leadership is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Basic computer skills (point of sale systems, inventory software)
- Knowledge of building materials, tools, and products used in construction and home improvement projects is highly desirable.
Salary
50,000 - 60,000 /year
