Assistant General Managers report to the General Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a critical leadership role in supporting the General Manager (GM) in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. This includes managing staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining high standards of food quality and service, and helping with financial and operational controls. The AGM works closely with the GM to implement policies, monitor performance, and drive the restaurant s success, stepping in for the GM when necessary.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
Work in conjunction with the General Manager and provide support to ensure clarity around FOH staff roles, responsibilities, goals, and expectations. Assist in mentoring and lead training of all FOH team members. AGM is to be the ambassador for the promotion of individual FOH staff growth, team culture, brand communication and customer satisfaction. Organize and plan daily operational details in a clearly communicated and complete manner to ensure operational success and financial viability of the business.
Assistant General Manager responsibilities include the follow:
Assist the GM in the daily operation of the restaurant, ensuring all functions are running smoothly.
Ensure the restaurant is fully staffed, assist with employee training, and manage staff schedules.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the restaurant, both front-of-house and back-of-house.
Oversee inventory management, ordering supplies, and monitoring stock levels to ensure timely deliveries and minimize waste and over ordering.
Supervise and motivate restaurant front-of-house team members.
Conduct training programs on service standards, product knowledge, safety procedures, and customer service expectations.
Assist with employee performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and address performance issues.
Help maintain positive morale among staff, promote teamwork, and foster a professional and respectful work environment.
Monitor guest satisfaction, handle customer complaints or issues, and ensure timely resolution.
Ensure service standards are consistently met by all team members.
Assist in creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere for all customers, enhancing their dining experience.
Collect and respond to customer feedback (e.g., online reviews, surveys, direct feedback).
Assist the GM in monitoring and controlling operational costs, including labor, food, and supplies.
Ensure adherence to pricing strategies and promotions to drive sales and meet financial goals.
Assist in cash handling, closing procedures, and reporting sales and financial data to the GM or corporate team.
Ensure that the restaurant follows all local health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness protocols.
Monitor and maintain the restaurant s health inspection scores and manage compliance with safety regulations.
Lead safety meetings and training to ensure all team members are aware of emergency procedures and safety protocols.
Collaborate with the GM on marketing strategies, such as seasonal promotions, events, and local partnerships.
Assist in creating and implementing strategies to increase customer loyalty and repeat business.
Contribute to the development of special events, promotions, and loyalty programs.
Oversee social media efforts, ensuring that the restaurant s online presence is active and engaging.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to focus, communicate, and lead 100% of the time
Must be capable of standing, walking, climbing, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, stretching, and lifting for the duration of each shift
Must be able to work in and move efficiently through a crowded environment
Must be capable of continuous standing and motion
Must be mentally flexible and capable of responding to changing priorities and duties
Must be able to adjust to fluctuations in work pace and business volume
Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 30lbs
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Fast-paced with extensive contact with people
Ability to stand for 5 + hours
Extreme temperature fluctuation
Exposure to hot food, hot liquids, hot plates, hot surfaces, and hot equipment
Exposure to restaurant equipment and cleaning products
Exposure to loud background noise
QUALIFICATIONS
2-3 years prior senior hospitality leadership experience
Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
Strong written and oral skills in English
ServSafe Food Manager Certification
Versatility, discipline, organization, work ethic, and ability to work within a team
Computer skills needed to use email, share drives, word processing, spreadsheets, recipe management software, labor management software, and inventory management software
Flexible schedule: able to work mornings, evenings, and weekends, as well as holidays and other busy times as dictated by business needs
The ability to communicate in Spanish is appreciated
