Assistant Controller - Creative Financial Staffing

About the Company and Opportunity:

• Due to growth, they are hiring an Assistant Controller to work in their office in Pasadena, MD. This person will work with a small tight knit team.

Overview of the Role:

• This position will begin immediately after an interview for the selected candidate
• Position is 100% in office in Pasadena, MD to start. After training, there will be an opportunity for two days work from home.
• Hours are typically 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

• Oversee the timely processing of accounts payable and receivable activities, expense reports, and payroll processing
• Coordinate with outside professional advisors to ensure payroll, sales/use tax, property and income taxes are reported and paid
• Oversee all HR activities to ensure all employment documentation are complete and in compliance with state and federal laws
• Oversee administration of corporate 401k plan including reports and submissions in accordance with legal and plan requirements
• Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure compliance
• Maintain and improve systems that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value
• Work with IT to maintain security of company electronic and physical assets
• Respond to owner and VPO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs

Ideal Candidate for this Position:

• The Assistant Controller must have exceptional organizational and time management skills
• Must be very detail oriented and also able to multitask
• Possesses strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills
• Has the ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Strong supervisory skills

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:

• 3-5 years' accounting experience required
• Intermediate Excel skills required
• Construction industry experience preferred
• Recent experience with Sage 100 highly preferred. Experience with other construction software a plus
• Degree not required, but is a plus
• Supervisory experience a plus
