Our innovative Construction Management and Civil Engineering Consulting enterprise is looking for an Assistant Controller to join our tight-knit management team at our Corporate Office in Mineola, NY. This full-time role is a newly created position that will oversee all company financial operations. The Controller will have a great deal of freedom to create and design his/her own systems and processes. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a department in a small company environment that will provide for future personal growth.
Assistant Controller Responsibilities:
• Prepare internal financial statements to summarize and forecast the company’s financial status.
• Work with outside accountant in preparation of annual financial statements.
• Produce and manage balance sheets and analyze future earnings and expenses.
• Manage accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization.
• Assist with preparations for audits.
• Work to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
• Ensure compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
• Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Delegate accounting tasks to junior accounting staff.
• Maintain chart of accounts and ensure a system of controls over accounting transactions.
• Cash Management / Asset Management as well as Cash Projection.
• Oversee A/P and A/R transactions to include billing, payroll processing, bank reconciliations and analysis of general ledger accounts.
• Ensure Contract Analysis by Project Managers with Comparison of Previous Period.
• Comply with all local/state/federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Prepare annual budget and forecasts.
Qualifications/Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly skilled in math, accounting and financial processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a small team.
• Detail oriented and highly organized.
• Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Excellent critical thinking skills.
• Solid understanding of Ajera, Microsoft Office Suite, and ADP payroll systems.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field.
- 5 years’ experience in accounting.
- CPA required.
- Construction industry and/or Engineering industry experience.
